How Bike Riding changed my life: a nostalgic perspective 29 Sep 2019 – Posted in: Blogs
Welcome back to this exciting new biker focused series! We hope that you are heartily enjoying the stories of fellow bikers!
This time, Team Tripnme bring to you the voice of a biker from overseas, a passionate young dreamer who longs for the days he zoomed by on his bike. We all have those days when we wish we were elsewhere, especially out somewhere in the open air. S shares his journey with us!
Can you tell us and our readers a little bit about yourself?
I’m 24 years old and right now I am working as a casual front desk agent at a hotel. Along with that I am studying management full time in Perth, WA. My interests include- well of course- riding, designing houses and making travel videos.
When did you start riding?
I started riding when I was 18 – so that’s 6 years of riding!
Can you tell us briefly, about your first ride?
My first real ‘ride’ (as in, not a commute to/fro work) was when I was 19 . It was a group ride from a biking club to Yelagiri Hills in TN. It was amazing – one of the most memorable moments in my life even now.
Do you have your own bike at the moment?
I don’t own a motorcycle right now – for some reason buying a car felt like the right thing to do, so I bought a car instead. However, I had a motorcycle – a Yamaha R3 – for 7 months while I was in Canberra.
Is it special to you? Can you tell us a little bit more about it?
I paid for it in interest free installments using the money I was earning working part time. Choosing a bike was rather easy – I knew I wanted a rather small bike as that would mean saving cost on fuel. Also, I wanted something new and reliable. Hence a trusty Japanese steed!
Do you miss riding? How do you deal with that?
I knew I’d absolutely miss riding a bike, and so to make up for that, I bought a convertible so I can have the wind in my hair and whatnot. I was hoping it would be somewhat similar to the experience of riding a motorcycle!
S is currently busy managing his job and his studies and hopes he can ride very soon. We wish him the best on his ride, as bumpy as it may seem, and hope he hears the purr of the engine of his own bike sooner than later!
Team Tripnme would like to thank S for sharing his story with us.
